Karen Johanning, a food and travel writer, is the founder of Seasonal Craving. She is also a health coach certified by the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. She has been featured in numerous media outlets, including the AP Wire and MSN.
I'm so glad you stopped by. A bit about me... I received my health coaching certification from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in 2020. I am also a busy mom and wife, juggling practices, homework, and dinner time.
My husband Jim and I have three children aged 20, 18, and 16, and one super cute pup, named Cooper. 🐶 I graduated from Harvard University with a Master's in Technology in Education in 2003. This blog is about how I married my love of healthy eating and my background in technology.
My eating philosophy is pretty simple, and I think this is the key to a long and healthy relationship with food: eat more fresh fruits and vegetables, lean protein, and some healthy fats. Oh yeah, and don't deprive yourself. If you want a Gluten Free Donut, eat one and move on. Don't beat yourself up about it. I have found over the years that when I avoid all sweets, I binge later on.
About five years ago, I had stomach problems and fatigue, so I met with a holistic nutritionist and decided to try to go gluten free for two weeks. She helped me do an elimination diet, and I realized that gluten was messing with me. Luckily, I do not have celiac disease, and I can tolerate some now and then. I know there are a lot of people out there who are on special diets, and that's why I label everything gluten free, paleo, whole 30, and dairy free.This blog started as a way for me to share my gluten free recipes when it was not easy to cook gluten free. Although I no longer have to eat strictly gluten free, I help my clients follow a gluten free diet if that has been recommended by a doctor.

These is an error in the recipe on seasonalcravinging.com as in step 6 it refers to adding chocolate chips.

Quick question about your Gluten Fre Zucchini Bread: Your recipe calls for Bob’s Red Mill GF All Purpose Flour, but doesn’t call for xanthum Gum. When I searched for that flour, I could only find Bob’s Red Mill GF All Purpose Baking Flour — and on the package that flour notes to add Xanthum gum, which I did and it turned out fine, but I’d prefer not to use xanthum gum if I can avoid it. Can you clarify which flour you use that doesn’t require xanthum gum? (Note that I realize BRM has a 1:1 GF baking flour that includes xanthum bum, but as I said I’d prefer to avoid the xanthum gum entirely).

Hi there, I just use the OXO Good Grips Multi-Purpose ones from Amazon and they work great. I make sure the kids don't use them to cut other things. 🙂

When the marriage ended, I had 7 year old twins, a son that was 5 and my daughter was 3 years old. .They are all adults and 1 of my sons is a veteran.
